I was recently asked by a friend to perform a blessing on his home after his abusive, soon-to-be-ex-husband moved out. It was understandable why he would want to bring in uplifting spiritual energy into his space. But break-ups aren't the only reason why you might want to perform a home blessing. I like to perform them when I move into a new living space and sometimes, if I think of it, after I've moved out. They can help "reset" a space after trauma has occurred there. They can also be appropriate to do before a new baby, pet, or any family addition is brought into the home. You can perform a home blessing like this one whenever you need.
Gender matters. Yes, I am totally on the bandwagon for eliminating the gender concept completely because I have witnessed how limiting it is, but until that happens, gender matters. It especially matters to those of us who have been oppressed because of our gender. If you think gender is not important, you probably have never suffered because of your gender. Gender matters in our lives and that includes spirituality too.
Tonight is a full moon and I'm getting back into the practice of using this monthly time to do some ritual. Many spiritual traditions choose the full moon as a time for ritual. I believe this has to do with the metaphor of "light within darkness." This ritual idea came to me and I felt inspired to share. If you wish to do this ritual, please tweak it so it is most meaningful to you.
